My half-marathon PR is 1:28:56, at Revel Canyon in November 2014.
Short-Term Running Goals:
My goal, like many, is to qualify for Boston. I grew up in Boston and did all of my education there. Until September, my BQ is 3:15. For 2017, I'll move up another age rung to 3:25.
I'm registered for Chicago in October, so hopefully I can repeat that 3:21 there for the BQ.
Long-Term Running Goals:
I'm hoping that, despite my age, I may yet have a sub 3:00 marathon in me, and a low 1:20 half.
Personal:
Ran track in college as a sprinter (200m, 400m). Was reasonable successful at a Division III school. That's eons ago however.

Welcome to the blog!
I take it you could run a quarter in at least around 50 back in college if you were a collegiate sprinter. What can you do in a quarter right now?
The reason I am asking is that in order to figure out how to train you need to understand your breakdown point. E.g. if you can run a quarter in 60, but your mile is only 6:00, then the breakdown is between the mile and the quarter, and the workouts would be 400s in 80 with short rest, or 800s in 2:40 with long rest. Then eventually learn to run 1200 in 4:00, and maybe push the mile to something like 5:30 - that lifts the 5 K, and with that the marathon improves as well.

Hey, welcome to the FRB. BQ is a great goal. There's even a page from Sasha with a few tips to help...

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I haven't tried running a fast quarter in a long time, but maybe I'll throw one in during my next track outing. Certainly won't be 50 seconds anymore. I've never heard of the breakdown point before, but it makes sense.

Sasha has lots of ideas regarding sprinting speed and distance running, breakdown point, quality x, etc. Me, I just run. Keep it simple, right?
